Wellness Strategy
Promoting a wellness paradigm that embraces a holistic approach.
Through our Wellness Strategy, our chiropractors work closely with each practice member to support overall health by incorporating the five essential requirements of life and helping reduce the four major stressors that impact wellbeing.

The Four Ts.
Our bodies are designed to adapt and thrive, but when stress becomes overwhelming, it can affect the spine and nervous system, creating what chiropractors call subluxations. Understanding the common sources of stress -and how they impact your nervous system - is the first step in supporting your overall health.

01
Trauma – Physical Stress
Physical stress on the body can come from injuries, falls, car accidents, sports, lifting children, heavy school bags, or prolonged poor posture. Even repetitive movements or the birth process can place stress on the spine.
02
Toxins – Chemical Stress
Chemical stress may come from alcohol, food additives, environmental toxins, cigarettes, medications, vaccines, excess caffeine, pollutants, and a poor diet.
03
Thoughts – Emotional Stress
Emotional stress from work pressure, family conflict, personal trauma, major life changes, grief, or ongoing mental strain can influence how the body functions and adapts.
04
Technology – Modern Lifestyle Stress
Modern lifestyles place new demands on the body, including tech neck, prolonged sitting, poor posture, excessive screen time, and sedentary work habits. At Living Family Chiropractic, we encourage our practice members to be mindful of these stressors and make lifestyle choices that support a healthier, more balanced nervous system for the whole family.
5 Requirements of Life
Along with reducing daily stressors we emphasize the five essential requirements for optimal health. We ask our practice members to reflect on which of these requirements you might need to incorporate more into their lives.

01
Spine (Regular Chiropractic Care).
Reducing interference in your nervous system supports clear brain-to-body communication, helping your body heal and function as it’s designed to.
02
Rest
Your body restores and rejuvenates as you rest and sleep. Quality sleep is critical to your health, wellness and longevity.
03
Move
Movement and exercise play a key part in achieving a healthy lifestyle. In our modern world, stretching and postural awareness to strengthen your body is more important than ever.
04
Eat
Adequate hydration and a nourishing, well-balanced whole food diet support your body to function, repair, and thrive.
05
Think
A healthy mindset supports your overall wellbeing. Mindfulness, meditation, personal development, reading, and music are simple ways to nurture it.
Te Kahu o te Ora – The Cloak of Wellbeing
When you enter our practice, you are embraced by Te Kahu o te Ora — the Cloak of Wellbeing.
In te ao Māori, a kahu or korowai (cloak) can signify protection, warmth, strength, and care. It surrounds the person wearing it and uplifts their wellbeing - their physical health, spiritual health, and mental and emotional health, acknowledging the whole person. It also symbolises not just the individual, but the whānau, recognising that true wellness encompasses the wellbeing of the whole family.
This reflects how we see wellness at Living Family Chiropractic - recognising the body’s innate wisdom and ability to heal when the nervous system is functioning well and interference is reduced. Health is more than the absence of pain - it is the expression of wellbeing across the whole person and the whānau that surrounds them.
The name and whakataukī were gifted to us in 2021 by our whānau member Eru Morgan, who helped us find words that reflected the philosophy behind our care.
“Ko te kahu whakapiki oranga, hei oranga tinana, hei oranga wairua, hinengaro me te tangata anō hoki.”
For us, Te Kahu o te Ora represents the environment we strive to create every day — a place where individuals and families feel supported, cared for, and empowered on their health journey.
